Come on in, stay awhile, and meet the folks...

* Who We Are

Most members of the Loughrey Family Association of America descend from a line of Loughreys that begins with James Loughrey, Sr., who was born between 1729 and 1732 in Northern Ireland. James married a woman named Elizabeth and emigrated to the United States, where they had nine children, including Elizabeth (b. 1772), John (b. 1755), Amos (b. 1757) and James, Jr. (b. about 1769), all of whom were born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

Today, descendants of James, Sr. and Elizabeth can be found throughout the United States, and hold reunions every two years to meet new relatives, share geneaological information and celebrate their common heritage.

* Membership

Membership in the Loughrey Family Association of America is open to all Loughrey descendants, their families and other interested parties. Dues are $15 per yer, per household. Paid members receive hard-copy mailings of all issues of the LFA newsletter, "The Loughrey Lines," access to our password-protected, online family tree, and a fully-functional GEDCOM copy of the family tree for their own use. Membership inquiries should be sent to LFA secretary/treasurer Lee Gartner at leegartner@aol.com.

* Loughrey Family Tree

The Loughrey Family of America "Big Tree" is a password-protected database containing the names of more than 3,000 direct descendants of James Loughrey, Sr. and his wife Elizabeth, and more than 10,000 individuals in both the Loughrey family and related families such as the Carrell/Carrolls, Rileys, Smiths, and many more. This is the largest, most up to date collection of Loughrey relatives currently available. However, to protect the privacy of our living family members, access is limited exclusively to currently paid members of the LFA.

An older, more limited version of the Loughrey family tree is available in an add-on CD-ROM (CD #8, published in October 1996) for the popular "Family Tree Maker" software, which can be ordered from the Family Tree Maker website.

* Loughrey Family Newsletters

The Loughrey Family Association of America newsletter, The Loughrey Lines, is published quarterly, and is mailed in hard copy to all LFA members. All issues are also available by clicking below:
